Eyewear adds several details to ordinary fulfillment. Frame size, color, lens type, branding and packaging can all vary within the same collection. If lenses are processed to order, incomplete specifications can delay production or create an incorrect finished pair. Before you launch, review the following areas with your prospective supplier.

Confirm Exactly What Can Be Shipped

Ask for an eligible product list rather than assuming every catalog item can be dropshipped. The list should identify models, colors, sizes and the delivery specification. A frame with display lenses, an assembled non-prescription product and a prescription order are different products for fulfillment purposes.

Check how stock is confirmed and what happens when a model becomes unavailable. Ask whether stock is shared across buyers or reserved for your business, and how frequently availability is updated. An agreed shortage process is more useful than a general statement that the supplier has a large warehouse.

Separate Branding Minimums from Shipment Quantities

If you want your logo on the product, ask which methods and locations are available for the selected frame. A supplier may fulfill one customer order at a time while requiring an initial quantity for logo application or packaging production.

Review a physical sample of the logo, case, cleaning cloth and insert where those items are part of the offer. Confirm who owns any prepared inventory, where it is held and how remaining materials are handled if you change or discontinue the collection.

Test the Order Workflow

Give the supplier a representative order before launch. Include the model, color, size or configuration, quantity, packaging and destination. For lens orders, agree the additional data and approval process before submitting customer work.

Then test an exception: an unavailable color, an incomplete address or a requested change before dispatch. Ask when changes become impossible, how the order is paused and who approves any substitute. A store platform name alone does not demonstrate a working integration; verify the actual order and tracking flow you will use.

Compare the Whole Fulfillment Cost

Request a breakdown of the product, lens work if applicable, packing, branding materials, fulfillment handling and shipping. If storage, setup work or minimum commitments apply, include them in your comparison.

Compare suppliers using the same product configuration and destination. Otherwise, a cheaper product price can hide a different packaging specification or shipping service. Your own margin calculation should also include the selling channel, payment costs, marketing and customer after-sales expenses.

Review Delivery and Exception Handling

Ask for order processing and carrier transit separately. Identify the dispatch location and the shipping service proposed for your target country. Confirm when tracking becomes available, how shipping charges are calculated and who handles import charges.

Before scaling, send a trial order through the intended route. Record the dates of order approval, dispatch, first carrier scan and delivery. One shipment cannot establish a reliable service average, but it can reveal issues with packing, tracking or customer delivery expectations.

Check Product Evidence and Responsibilities

Ask for relevant information linked to the actual model and configuration. Product photos, specifications, test information and market documentation should describe the item you intend to sell. Avoid treating a supplier’s general company statement as proof that every product is suitable for every market.

For products sold in the EU, CE requirements depend on the applicable product rules. The EU’s official guidance explains that CE marking is used only for products covered by rules requiring it. EU guidance on CE marking

Agree how incorrect items, damage, delivery failure and returns are handled. The seller’s customer-facing policy and the supplier agreement need to work together; a consumer refund does not automatically determine which fulfillment partner bears the cost.

Questions to Ask Before You Start

  • Which exact models and configurations are eligible for individual fulfillment?
  • How is stock confirmed, and what happens when an item is unavailable?
  • Are branding minimums separate from shipment minimums?
  • Which charges are included in each order?
  • How are order changes and tracking updates handled?
  • Which product documents match the selected models?
  • Who handles incorrect items, parcel damage and returns?
